Zach - Doberman/Shepherd - 6 yr old - Neutered Male

"I saw Zach in the World Herald ad, stating he was T&C Dog of the month. His picture reminded me of my other dogs due to his colors. I wished I could meet him, however I tried to put it out of my mind. On Mother's Day my wife saw the picture in the paper. Well, it worked. She called Town and Country and then I went to go see him. He was the first dog I saw when I arrived. I thought that he needed me, as so many dogs need a person to step up and embrace them into a family. He is wonderful. At first he was going to live at my business but after my other 3 dogs accepted him, he became a member of my pack. He wanted to run with my dogs in the country and when I finally let him off leash, he was thrilled. He ran step for step with my rottweiler, performing scout duties. Since we live in the sticks, he can be off leash more than on. He is wonderful, obedient and loving. He can be trusted with all dogs, kids, babies and now horses and billy goats. He fulfilled his dreams of chasing cats, barking at squirrels and sleeping on a king size bed. He doesn't know he was in a cage most of his 7 years. He now knows when its hot he wants air conditioning, when he's lonely, he knows he can get attention from his pack and Mom and Dad. He loves life and has changed my priorities. I now will only adopt or parent older dogs. They are superior in training and need to get a chance with a family. His story is not complete. He is now an ambassador for dogs like him. We actively promote Zach's history and hope to show people how a great dog can be missed so many times by perspective adopters. There will never be a day bigger than the day when Zach went home with me and my dogs accepted him. He now has a girlfriend (Molly). They play, kiss, sleepover and who knows??"

Cricket - Australian Cattle Dog - 3 1/2 yr old - Spayed Female

Hi, my name is Cricket and I was adopted into a very nice home. They figured out I love to have my tummy rubbed every night and need my pillow fluffed up before I go to bed. I watch soap operas during the day and my new dad loves me a whole bunch. What more could I ask for.

Cody - American Bulldog Mix - 6 yr old - Spayed Female

Just wanted to let everyone know that Cody is doing wonderful! We love her and I believe she is very happy to have found her place in this world. She is becoming very content and spoiled! She has her own chair here, loves to go to the dog park, enjoys other animals, and is an all around friendly dog who is always eager to please. She also loves our other dog Skeeter, they have a blast together! I want to tell you guys what an awesome job you do with the dogs you take in, Cody has the best manners! I think its great that you teach the dogs the basic commands, it is a big help. I can only hope that every other dog out there gets the chance to live a good life with people who care for them. Thank you so much for introducing Cody into our lives! Sincerely, Naomi and Tom

Remi - American Bulldog/Shepherd Mix - 5 yr old - Spayed Female

My name is Remi, and I am a "big girl" at 6years old. I have livedmostof my life at Town & Country, where the wonderful caretakers andvolunteers gave me lots of love and good care. But I still wished forahome of my own, as I am sure you can understand. Well, I finally gotmywish and I am getting ready to have my first Christmas with my newfamily. My Mom (Mary) and Dad (Ray) took me to school first thing to learn how to behave in a house and get along with everybody. I did so good atschool that I graduated as Salutatorian of my class! This is my new best friend and brother "Chip." Chip & I sleep in the bedroom with Mom & Dad. We each have our own bed, but sometimes we just like to lay close to each other. As you can see, Chip and I are almost like a "real" brother andsister, and we love to play together! WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEWYEAR!!!

Rufus - Rottweiler Mix - 10 yr old - Neutered Male

Rufus is enjoying his new life in the country. Rolling in the grass, running the yard and playing with his 3 canine friends are some of his favorite things. Rufus doesn't seem like he's eleven yrs old, he romps like a puppy and loves everyone! We are so happy we met him and had a chance to give him the type of retirement he deserves. The whole family enjoys having him around and he has shown us that adopting a senior has loads of benefits. Thank you to Town and Country for seeing his potential and being persistent in finding him the right home. Keep up the good work.

Jenny - Shar Pei/Lab Mix - 1 1/2 yr old - Spayed Female

Chloe is the cute brown Shar Pei mix who was previously named Jenny. DJ and Chloe are very good pals these days. Chloe has turned out to be the very best pal I could have ever gotten for my 9 yr old DJ. She has brought out the puppy in him, as they play like kids all the time. After just a couple days kenneling her when I went to work, she seemed like she knew what the rules were. So after that she has had the run of the house with DJ and so far, no problems. She loves her new back yard and when I'm home the doggie door is constantly flapping because she loves to go in and out-doesn't want to miss out on anything inside or out! She is a wonderul little girl who has stolen my heart. DJ and I are both thankful she has come into our lives.

Dot - Australian Shepherd Mix - 4 yr old - Spayed Female

Our Dottie is the Queen at our house. She has found her "fit" here with us. She loves to go for car rides and play in her pool. Jessie really spoils her. If the cats get a treat then Dottie gets one too. Noone gets left out. We love our Dot and couldn't ask for a better dog to fit with our family. Thanks

Duke - Labrador/Pitbull Terrier Mix - 3 yr old - Neutered Male

Ive had Duke now for 1 month & everything is going great! He has made a very good transition into his new home. My other dog Max was kinda weary at first since he was "top dog" but now he & Duke are buds! I am very happy with my decision on adopting Duke. The picture that was in the Omaha World Herald advertising him was really enough for me. I knew I had to have him!

Zorro - Border Collie/Chow Mix - 2 yr old - Neutered Male

Hi, my name is Zorro, I am the handsome blonde, and that is my little buddy, Bob, lying next to me on the bed and my other bud, Vito on the floor. It has been 6 months since a couple of the nice trainers at Town and Country Humane Society decided they were going to find me a home. They put that heart wrenching sign around my neck ("All I want for Christmas is a home")and said a lot of prayers to get the Big Man upstairs help and took me to Petsmart to snag a soft heart. Well sure enough one walked in, I put on my best smile and before you know it I was adopted. You see I had been in a kennel at two different humane societies for 18 months. I was a little hard to get to know and barked at everyone who came in my new abode. I really liked my new playmates though and the big backyard with a fence that I could run in as much and as often as I like. I was not even sure of going inside the house at first. My new mom had to coax me in. I was sure that it was a dream, so for 3 days I stayed awake and would stand to keep from falling asleep until exhaustion won. I woke up and sure enough I was still in the new moms home, which is now my home. At first I would not let her even pet my head for very long, but each week I have learned trust and now I roll over on my back for belly rubs. I love my mom and my human sister, Megan, who calls me ZoZo. She is really cool. I give high 10s (2 paws) when someone comes home and let them take me for walks. I never forget to let my mom know how much I love her, I follow her everywhere. I have 3 playmates, Rowdie, Bob, and Vito. We have the best time playing. I have even learned to play with humans and can fetch a ball, but love to play tug of war. Wow,I sure did miss a lot in my first 3.5 years, but mom has promised me that I can stay with her forever. She must really love me, she tells me so, but she got a special license so she could have 4 dogs. I have come a long way in 6 months and now everyone who sees me wants me, but my mom says no way. So if you are looking for a friend, trust those trainers, they know what they are doing and do not fret if he/she does not warm up immediately, it took me some time. You may not know why they are homeless, but you do know where they are going. A great home can change everything. Hey look at me I really hit the mark-from homelessness to happiness.

Corky - Corgi - 7 yr old - Neutered Male

I thought that Corky looked like a Buddy. So Buddy is adjusting to his new name very well. I call him my little vaccum cleaner because he is always running around the house with his nose on the floor. He loves to spend alot of time in my big backyard. I think his favorite place is the dishwasher. One day I left the dishwasher door open and when I came back into the kitchen he was sitting on the door. Unforturnately, I did not have my camera handy. He looked so cute sitting there. He is doing very well. He loves to go for walks and he gets along great with my Molly dog. I think they will end up being good friends. Buddys tail wags all the time. He is a Good Boy! Norma

Kerry Ann - Staffordshire Terrier/Lab Mix - 5 1/2 yr old - Spayed Female

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I came to Town and Country. I knew I wanted a dog. I had planned on that for a long time. I finally had a house, a yard, a fence. All I needed was for me to be ready. I would have taken any dog, rescued him and brought him. So when I entered the doghouse and saw all those faces I still could not decide. I looked at Duke. I looked at Jack #1, Jack #2 and so on. I looked at all the dogs and wanted them all, but what really mattered in helping me decide was what dog wanted me. After walking around repeatedly, petting Jessie and looking at Roger, I simply took a step back and tried to watch the dogs watch me. That is when I saw Carrie Ann, who was sitting quietly watching me. Carrie Ann watched me not as a desperate and frenzied pound puppy; but as a friend, knowing and enduring. Knowing that she was going home with me. Carrie Ann picked me, I did not pick her. Since Carrie has been home with me, I have a new best friend. We go on walks every day since walks are her favorite thing. We have been camping and hiking. We have done just about everything and the whole time Carrie Ann has been a friend, knowing and enduring. She knows not to tear apart my house or to run away (even when camping in the middle of nowhere!). She sits on her homemade pillow, wagging her tail and waiting to be pet. Carrie Ann is happy here and so am I. Thank You Town and Country for helping Carrie Ann and I find each other!

Kohl - Lab Mix - 2 yr old - Spayed Female

My name is Kinsey (previously Kohl). I am a Hurricane Katrina Rescue. Due to me being very timid I ended up in foster care. Lucky for me my foster mom flunked "Foster 101." Because of my past medical history of Heartworm positive, Pyometria, Breast Cancer and 4 eye surgery's later my veterinarian states that I am very "Humble." I love to play at daycare and snack on lots of treats! I want to thank Town and Country for rescuing me and giving me this opportunity to live out a happy healthy life. My mom thanks you too.

Kona - Chow Mix - 3 yr old - Spayed Female

After the loss of our 15 year old dog, we went to the Town and Country Humane Society to find a companion to share our home with and that is where we found Kona! She is a Katrina survivor that had experienced so many traumas. After all Kona endured, she was still able to maintain a sparkle in her eyes that was totally irresistible. We were so thrilled to bring her home. The first couple months went much smoother than we ever hoped for. Everything is going so well and we are so thankful to all the volunteers at Town and Country for rescuing Kona and taking such good care of her all this time. She has had some rough times in her past but she will be treasured by us forever! Thanks to everyone involved, Kathy and Bruce.

Bouncer - Black/White Short Hair - 1 yr old - Neutered Male

K-Bouncer (renamed to Barney)is doing great and loves us and our house. He is the most loving cat and lets us pet him anywhere on his body. My daughter really enjoys him and loves looking at him and playing with him. He enjoys sitting on our sun porch and watching the birds and other cats that come into our back yard. He has a funny little squeak for a meow when he wants attention and he never bites or scratches us. We keep him groomed so he does not shed really at all. We are very happy with him and could not have asked for a better cat! Thanks for your help at Town and Country in getting us together with him!

Jessie - Pit Bull Mix - 7 yr old - Spayed Female

Jessie is doing really well. Her and our 1 1/2 yr old daughter Olivia are best buds and play together all the time. Jessie has adapted to our home very well. We couldn't have asked for a better dog. We think it was meant to be for us to meet Jessie at the Home Show. Jessie is a great addition to our family.

Maxwell - German Shepard - 10 yr old - Neutered Male

Hi, my name is Max. I met my new family at the Veteran’s Day parade in Bellevue. I saw this little girl on the curb and it was love at first sight. I went up to her and licked her face. What you don’t know is I’m 10 years old and this family opened their hearts so I could live out the rest of my life with them. As you can see, I’m the happiest boy in the whole-wide-world (and she looks pretty happy too)!

Diamond - Boxer - 3 yr old - Spayed Female

Hello, My name is Diamond and I was adopted by a nice family in Yutan, NE. I love living out in the country. I have other dogs here to run and play with. I love to go for boat rides. THEY ARE THE BEST!!! We have a small grill and we cook hot dogs on the boat and eat them. I watch them closely to make sure they do not fall off of the grill! My mom and dad cook me a couple but I get the ones that roll off too! YUM! I helped my mom plant perennials in the yard. I lay down by her when she is planting and she enjoys that. I also love car rides. I get to ride in the car when we go for the Sunday paper. We only get the Sunday paper, so I sometimes get mixed up and wish it was Sunday, so my mom takes me for a ride anyway because she knows I enjoy it so much. I think they have pretty much "spoiled me rotten" and that is just fine with me! I had made a lot of doggie friends at Town and Country and I sure hope they can find as good of homes as I did. I was lucky to get a second chance and I hope they will get one too! Love, Diamond.

Buddy - Beagle - 2 1/2 yr old - Neutered Male

We just wanted to take a moment to share our wonderful experience of adopting Buddy from the Town & Country Humane Society. Everyone was incredibly nice, helpful and patient with us and our other dog. We spent quite a bit of time, and visits, looking for a friend for our pup Belle. Buddy and Belle hit it off great! We had to wait a bit for Buddy while he was being treated for heartworm, but he was SO worth the wait. He is an absolute joy to have around! We can't imagine our lives without him now. Thank you everyone at Town & Country! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all of you. Christi & Jim Dyer

Chip - Tabby - 6 1/2 yr old - Neutered Male

Hello, my name is Chip and I am an eight year old male. I’ll answer to Chipper, Chippy, or Chipster. I have absolutely beautiful black and brown markings. My favorite things to do are lay (especially in your lap!) around all day on my comfy blanket, play with my toy mice, and SLEEP! I was a bit shy at first, but once I got comfortable, I really began to open up! When it comes to attention, I crave it! I was living at Town and Country Humane Society for awhile up until my recent adoption. I am the only cat in the house and I love it! I’m one happy cat because I get all the love and care I could ever ask for! I like stealing my “mom’s” computer chair especially when she gets ready to sit down. I can’t help it, its’ so comfortable! I also like to block my “mom’s” view of the computer or mirror if I am not given full attention! Oh, and I also make this loud noise that often startles my owner. I swear it’s not gas!

Dale - Red Tabby - 6 1/2 yr old - Neutered Male

Dale is adorable, very sweet and a loving cat. He has moved right in and has made friends with his sister Pumpkin. They enjoy chasing each other and running up and down the stairs. He came out from under the couch for a petting after a couple hours of being here in his new home. The first night here, he stayed close to me. In fact, the first night he made himself at home by jumping into bed with me. If someone comes over he runs and hides. He must think they are coming to take him away. However, he has made friends with my son who comes over several times per week. Dale is a real charmer. He seems to be gaining confidence everyday. Love Elsa

Bandit - Beagle - 2 1/2 yr old - Neutered Male

Hi, I’m Bandit. I have this really great family now and they just love me to pieces. Look at me, how could you not love me? Anyway, I have kids to play with now, a cat to take naps with, neighbors who love me….what more could I ask for! My new family is wonderful.

Tory - Sheltie/Keeshound MIx - 4 yr old - Spayed Female

I adopted this precious collie-mix in August of 2007 and she has become such a member of our family! She enjoys the luxuries of a large fenced-in backyard and has access to a doggie door, so she can go in and out as she pleases. She adapted quickly to my other two dogs-a Rat Terrier and a Chihuahua. Tory was completely house-broken when I adopted her which made her transition into my home absolutely effortless! No "puppy phase" to deal with...no messes, no chewing of furniture and no whining at night! Some very big advantages to adopting a pet that is fully grown. May you find a place in your heart for one of the many homeless faces at Town and Country Humane Society. The Town and Country volunteer's have a passion for every animal they so lovingly rescue and care for but, inside any given kennel is a sweetie that is waiting to find a real home! God Bless Karen

Austin - Lab MIx - 1 yr old - Neutered Male

Austin is doing wonderful!!! He loves playing with all his toys, taking naps, (especially in the bathtub) and running around outside. He loves to go for car rides and spend time with his family!

Frazier - Springer/Lab Mix - 1 yr old - Neutered Male

Hi, my name is Frazier. I was rescued from a kill shelter in Missouri and was living at Town and Country when a nice couple came in looking for an addition to their family. I was the lucky one they chose and, as you can see, they have made me feel right at home and bought me lots of toys to play with. I love my new parents and my new home and I’m very excited to get another chance. Thanks for picking me!

Roger - Australian Shepherd/Border Collie Mix - 1 yr old - Neutered Male

Hi, remember me! I wanted to show you my new family. I love playing with my new brother, Oscar, and the kids in the backyard. They take me for walks but I’m always content to come back to my new yard and get a treat. Thanks for helping me find a new home and family. Love and kisses, Roger.

Misty - Domestic Short Hair - 1 yr old - Spayed Female

Misty happened to be in the right place at the right time. She was not her "mom's" first choice. In fact, her "mom" didn't even know about her when she considered adopting another cat to join Persephone at home. However, a few months later, when Misty's "mom" came by, to start the adoption process, the kitten she was going to adopt had already been successfully adopted. She was then introduced to Misty and it was love at first sight. Misty is now the queen of her castle, easily bossing around Persephone and winning over her "mom". But she makes sure to do her fair share of work. There is always sun to soak up, Persephone always needs more exercise, a lap to sit on, work to steal attention from, and food to eat.

Benny - Border Collie MIx - Born on 8 - Neutered Male

We decided to go to Town and Country after much research on different dogs. We had gone there with a few dogs picked out from their website; Benny however wasnʼt one of them. We wanted to find a dog that wanted to go home with us and the dogs we first looked were just not right. That is when we saw Benny waving his tail back and forth, waiting for us. We put in the papers to adopt Benny and every spare afternoon we had until the papers were approved we went to go visit Benny and spend time with him. He made us smile and laugh from day one. We brought him home and he has definitely helped make our family whole. He consistently follows me around whether I am walking to take the trash out or doing laundry in the house he is always by my side. Although, when his dad comes home he enjoys rolling around and playing. He enjoys playing with his squeaky toys. We love to play outside and play fetch, but we always make sure we have his pool out and ready to go on those hot summer days because after catching a few balls he likes to take a dip into the cool water and then is off to running again. We also love to spend our weekends going on picnics by the lake so that Benny can explore the unknown. At night when it cools down, the three of us enjoy lying in our oversized hammock and looking at the stars. Then itʼs off to bed, we hop into bed and Benny sometimes follows to give us a kiss goodnight but when its time to sleep he goes and lays down in his kennel and sleeps through the night with his warm fleece blankets. And occasionally he pulls those blankets on top of himself.

Joon - Border Collie Mix - Born on 8 - Spayed Female

Our kids had been asking to get a puppy for quite some time. Finally, we were in a place where we felt ready for a new addition to our family. A friend of ours told us about Town and Country. We found out what the procedure was to adopt a dog, then off we went to meet our next family member. Jazz (formerly Joon) caught our attention right away, but we thought she belonged to someone else because she was being brushed and cared for at the time we saw her. We had the chance to meet a couple of other dogs in a fenced yard. When Jazz was brought to us, she was playful and full of energy. She loved the kids and minded our older dog. It was as though she was already part of our family. We adopted Jazz and now she takes long walks around the neighborhood mixing and mingling with all the other neighborhood dogs. She follows mom everywhere in the house during the days. She likes to take afternoon cat naps, so she has energy to play with the kids when they get home from school. Jazz loves to chase and destroy her squeaky toys, and has learned to catch Frisbees. She also has a blast at the family cabin running and swimming with her five canine cousins on the beach, and riding in the boats. She is very good at herding us all together when we get too far apart by running circles and figure-eights around us. Jazz is so sweet. She has melted right into our family. We feel very lucky to have adopted such a fun, energetic, loving puppy that has added a lot of life and love to our family and home.

Icey - Shepherd/Labrador Mix - 2 1/2 yr old - Spayed Female

Hi, my name is Elsi. It used to be Icey but my new mom changed it. She kept it similar so it would be easy for me to learn it. I think it fits my personality perfect. She is the best mom in the whole world. She’s made me so happy and I know I’ve made her happy. I play with my new friend Kaeden all the time. He even shares the couch with me. She’s introduced me to lots of dogs and I love to play with them all. It’s really fun being part of a family and she’s spoiled me rotten. I love every minute of it. I’m glad she picked me.

Tonka - Shar Pei/Boxer Mix - 2 yr old - Neutered Male

Buddha (formerly Tonka) is doing awesome and adjusting well to his newhome and life. We are inseparable---Buddha sees to that! He is veryloveable and wants constant attention, which I love to give. I waited along time to have my own dog so once I got a house I was ready to find adog that needed a good home. I met Buddha at Town and Country and knewimmediately I wanted to bring him home. He loves car rides, playingwith his "cousins", Buster and Max, and going for walks. It took him acouple of weeks to enjoy eating "treats" but now he understands theconcept of being rewarded and has learned many commands and tricks. Heis a wonderful dog and I am grateful to have him as a companion.

Dozer - Labrador/Mastiff Mix - 1 yr old - Neutered Male

Hello I'm Dozer and my big goofy head keeps getting me odd looks from my neighbors, but once they see I just wanna play everyone likes running over to pet me. My new roommates are fun and always have something fun to do or a new toy for me to play with. I love playing fetch with the tennis ball and when my roomies are tired and laying around I lay right next to them chewing on a bone. I get to sleep on a soft floor, and sometimes I get to lay with my Pal at the foot of his bed. I even play a game with my roommates where I throw my ball down the steps and they have to chase it and bring it to me and cause I won't go down in the scary basement. Overall all I've never had so much fun and I love my new friends!! Thanks to Nebraska Furniture Mart for helping me get adopted by these awesome guys!!!!

DeNali - Siberian Husky - Born on 8 - Neutered Male

My name is Denali and though I am not very old-I already had been through a lot before I was saved and brought to Town and Country. My new mommy had come to the Ralston Parade to help out my friends at Town and Country to find homes for me and my furry friends and saw me there with a different volunteer, but she couldn’t keep her eyes off of me-or stop petting me and giving me water and treats. I guess my cute furry face and blue eyes won her over. After the parade was over she filled out the application to adopt me and she went to see her grandpa for Father’s Day. I am sad I did not get to meet him, as he died the day after Father’s Day, but my mommy gave me his middle name-Francis-and told me he loved all animals and that our middle name is the name of a saint that watches over and protects animals. I have been keeping her, my daddy, and my brothers (Shadow Alden-the alpha-border collie and Takota Winter-the gentle giant-husky) busy, so they are not so sad. I can be a bit hyper sometimes, but I have been getting better everyday. I was a little crazy and insecure at first and did not know what to do with myself, and a little scared all the good things that were happening to me would end, but I have calmed down a lot and I love my new family. I love to take walks, go to day-camp and play with my new friends, watch TV with Dad, eat treats, and at night I love to cuddle and sleep close to my mom, dad, and pack brothers and hog the pillows. Now when mom and dad help out with the parade, I get to ride in the truck with daddy, but I still get to see my friend’s from Town and Country, both my human and dog friends and I hope and wish for my dog, cat, and other furry friends that they find forever families soon too.

Patches & Clyde - Siberian Husky Mix and Shepherd Mix - Spayed Female

I wasn't planning on getting a new dog so soon after my 13 year old Chow/Shepherd passed in June, but when Maggie told me about Clyde-- a 7 year old Shepherd mix who was taken back to T & C after five years, it just pulled at my heart. He is such a beautiful dog and I knew I could give him a nice home. So after visiting with an anxious Clyde, LuAnn pointed out her 'current' favorite, which was Patches--a four 1/2 year old Husky/Great Pyrenees mix from a kill shelter in Missouri. I don't quite know why, but I suddenly asked to see her too. What a big loveable Marshmallow. Then after seeing the two of them together, I just wanted them both. And I'm so glad I brought them both home. They have become best buddies and great companions for me. I love to watch them play.....Clyde usually starts it, but when Patches gets going, she gets pretty feisty with him. She's very strong and makes a good match for him. Sometimes they just lay next to each other looking out across the yard when suddenly they look at each other with their ears perked up like they are saying "Did you hear that!?!...I'm gonna get it first!!" and take off racing across the yard for who knows what. They are great dogs and I'm very glad they are with me.

Tora - Shiba Inu/Boston Terrier mix - 1 1/2 yr old - Neutered Male

Just wanted to update you on Miss Tora's new family life. As you know we were at Lanoha's looking for a Christmas tree in early December 2007. There were 2 ladies there with 2 great dogs looking for new homes. We completely fell in love with Tora- her beautiful dark face and brindle coloring caught our eyes. My husband and son were sold on-the-spot, but I hesitated because we already have 2 cats at home. Well, long story short, after we brought Tora home one of the 2 cats (Cheetah) gets along with her just fine, and the other (Muffin) tolerates her, but I'm sure will come around. Tora has been such a joy to us. She's very eager to please and we've taken a few training classes. And one of her classmates (Lucy) also was adopted thru Town & Country. Tora is doing great!!! We're all learning how to communicate consistantly which make her training a lot of fun. We're hoping to train this summer in some agility tricks. Thanks again for helping these great animals find loving homes. Tora is so much a part of our family now - its hard to believe I didn't want a dog earlier, but I suppose we just had to fing the right one. Miss Tora fits perfectly. This picture is Tora with her boy (Garrett). The Onderlinde (Rich, Corrina, Garrett) Family Omaha, NE

Quinn - Belgian Malinois Mix - 3 yr old - Spayed Female

I have a brand new family and I enjoy every minute of every day, it did not take long for me to get use to my new home and the neighbors, they have three dogs that I can play with and we run up and down the fence everyday. My new brother keeps me busy too, we go in the big backyard and play fetch. I already found a favorite spot. I like to sit in the window seat and bask in the sun. My new little sister is not moving yet but I love to cuddle and kiss her alot. She really enjoys it too! Her first laugh was when I was licking her feet. My mom and dad really love me and think that I have been the best thing for the family. They are just the right pace for me. Mom takes me on long walks and she says that I'm actually doing really well walking on the leash. Dad loves to have a dog, he works nights so he loves the fact that I hop into bed with him and take long naps with him. The backyard is so big I still haven't discovered every square inch but I'm getting there. I'm so glad that my mom and dad brought my brother and sister into Town and Country, I wouldn't have wanted to go to any other family. Our family has enjoyed the company of having Quinn in our lives and just like our children we don't know what we would be doing with ourselves without Quinn. The kids have really enjoyed her and we have enjoyed watching the kids play with her. She is very gentle though she does have to be reminded sometimes that they are little and she is big but for the most part she has been a wonderful addition to our family. Thank you Town and Country for allowing us to make such a wonderful dog a part of our family. Stacy and Jeff

Murphy - Chocolate Lab Mix - Born on 10 - Neutered Male

Hello, this is Murphy. He came to live with us about two months ago, I found him on Town & Country’s web site. He spends a lot of time playing, running and eating. In fact, his favorite activity is eating. We had another dog already (Maggi), she is a lab mix also and about 4 years old. Murphy is extremely intelligent and learns quickly. He had to learn house manners (he had never been in a house before) and we leash trained him, we used an easy walk harness (he caught on very quickly). Murphy is a very gentle dog and gets along with everyone great. He has been a welcome addition to our household. He is very active but we were used to that since we already had a lab mix. They both get walked twice a day and are very easy to manage. I get lots of compliments from other people when we are on the bike trail about how beautiful and well-behaved both my dogs are.

Beanie & Breeze - Neutered Male

In Sept. 2006 alitttle 5 yr, scared black female Brussels Griffon named Beanie was taken by the Town and Country Humane Society into the Bookworm in Countryside Village in an effort to find her a home. Lucky for us a friend of ours who worked there thought that Beanie would be a great addition to our family. After contacting us we went to see her. Needless to say we fell in love with Beanie, immediately. After holding Beanie the following day, I knew that she was a very special dog. We then went through the application process to adopt Beanie. Even though it was one day, it seemed like forever until she could come live with us. We were so happy to finally have her home. When we adopted Beanie we also met her "adopted" 2 yr old brother named Breeze. When we were notifed that the adoption fell through with Breeze 5-6 weeks later, we had the option to adopt him too. By this time Beanie was such a joy and Maggie (our Yorkie) seemed to get along very well with a new sister. We decided to meet Breeze. After picking Breeze up we knew instantly, that he would be coming home with us too. The instant Breeze walked into the house and saw Beanie it was like they hadn't seen each other in years! I know they probably thought they would never see each other again. They were so happy to be reunited and we knew we made the right decision to add Breeze to our family. It has been about 10 months since we brought the dogs home and we can't imagine our lives without them as they have added so much joy and fun to our family. It is very entertaining to watch the 3 play and they sleep with us every night. We are so blessed that Beanie took that hopeful trip into the Bookworm that September day last year. We hope that others will also be blessed by opening their hearts to an animal that, like them, needs a home and people to love them. Steve and Jenny

Goldie - Australian Shepherd Mix - 1 yr old - Spayed Female

Hi, I’m Goldie and I just wanted to let you know that I’m happy in my new home. I spent my first night on the couch and I love to sit on the landing. I also steal my mama’s place in her bed and get really relaxed at naptime. My mama just loves me to pieces.

Lexie - Australian Shepherd Mix - 2 yr old - Spayed Female

Lacy has been in her new home for 1 month. After losing my dog of 15 ½ yrs, I kept looking for a puppy in the Omaha World Herald and at the Nebraska Humane Society. I never paid attention to the Town and Country Humane Society, until recently. Once I saw a picture of Lacy, I had to go and see her in person. When I first met her, she leaned her body into mine and dropped onto the ground to have her belly scratched. That’s when I knew she was the one! The staff said that she was a drama queen and that is still true today. Lacy is so full of energy and loves to run and play fetch with a tennis ball. I had forgotten how much energy a young dog has. Lacy loves car rides, even if it’s simply to go around the neighborhood. Thank you to all of the staff at Town and Country for taking care of Lacy and for posting her picture on your website. Keep up the great work! I hope that every animal finds a loving and caring home through your facility.

Aster - Labrador Mix - 1 yr old - Neutered Male

First of all, I would like to thank all of Town and Country for their help and kindness in answering all questions we had. We have been so happy with Wally. We couldn't have asked for a better dog. When we first went and got him, I was a little worried about how well he would behave in our home. But he has been well behaved and obedient, and he has been such a great addition to our family. We couldn't imagine our life without him. He is really enjoying his new home and backyard, and all the room he has to run around and play. I sure hope that we have made his life as happy as he has made ours. I have included a couple of phots of Wally. Thank you for your time, Lisa Guenther

Sundae - Beagle/English Springer Spaniel Mix - Born on 7 - Neutered Male

Hi everyone, My name is Rousseau, those of you at the shelter probably would remember me as Sundae. I found my new home when I was out at the Millard Days parade in August. Every time Tracy would walk by I would give her my best puppy dog eyes and bark. I just knew that she would take me home. I love to play with my rope and squeeky toys. Although I still enjoy a good chase and thankfully I have some brothers to play with. Two other dogs and three cats, Howard, Baxter, Renoir, Dafney, and Sierra. Any who, I got to go chase my tail so maybe I will see you around when I am out for my walks

Benji - Terrier Mix - 1 yr old - Neutered Male

Benji has definitely infused a great deal of energy into our house since we brought him home. We weren’t sure how a little dog would be after only having a large dog before but he has blended in fine with the family. He loves to go for walks and get to know everybody and really enjoys riding in the car to take the boys to school or pick them up. He is quite the ferocious guard dog, making sure everybody knows he is around after being awakened from one of his many naps. We couldn’t be happier with the little guy!

Lucy - Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog Mix - 1 1/2 yr old - Spayed Female

Lucy has been a great addition to our family. The kids love to play tug-of-war and wrestle with her every day. She makes everyone laugh with her unique behaviors of being part bunny, part reindeer, or very similar human behaviors of lounging on the furniture and using her paws like hands. She knows how to open the porch door to let herself in when she is outside. Lucy is now 70 pounds but believes she is a lap dog. She is very lovable and we are extremely happy with her being part of our family!

Molly - German Wirehaired Pointer Mix - 2 yr old - Spayed Female

It truly is our pleasure. She's become a major part of our family in a short time. We absolutely LOVE her. Even the cat - Jazzy is liking her now. They are sharing my bed at times and for some reason the cat feels the need to drink out of Molly's water dish, even though she has her own. It's pretty funny when they decide they need drinks at the same time. Because Molly gets water everywhere, it makes Jazzy get a shower. Their personalities are so fun and it's really neat watching Molly "grow" so much. She's claimed her yard and the bluejays, squirrels and possums are not welcome. It's the only time she will bark and they get one warning woof and then the chase is one. This little girl can run like the wind, she can lap my kids when they are playing in the yard. The other funny thing is the way Jazzy plays with Molly... one thing we have learned about her is that she likes her blankets flat and straight, so in every room she has her spot whether its a rug or a folded blanket or her kennel. Somehow Jazzy discovered that if she rumpled up the blanket it annoyed Molly. The other night when this happened Molly was 'catching' her in the act and I heard her whining in the other room, so I went to check on her. There was Jazzy messing up her blanket and Molly ran over to me, sat down and looked back and forth between the cat on her blanket and me as if to tattle. I couldn't help but laugh when Jazzy put her tail up and flounced past Molly like she owned the room. Then Molly went over and drug the blanket to me as if to show me 'see what she did'. Silly girl...so I shook it out and re-folded and laid it out for her. And it was like - oh thank you mommy and she ran over to lay down on it before Jazzy could come back to it. Which is part of the game. One day I think the cat messed up the blanket everytime she walked past it. We have been giving some thought to fostering. Molly is so social I think she would benefit from having a friend, but also to help out the rescue. The volunteer who helped me in the office a couple of weeks ago mentioned that they were looking for foster families becuase adoptions drop off in the winter and our furry friends have to stay in the kennels longer. Is that something you do alot of...older animals, younger, dogs, cats or just a mixture? Any criteria on that... it's something I've been thinking about. Well, gotta run my pies are done baking.

Daisy - Boston Terrier/Beagle Mix - Spayed Female

Hi! My name is Daisy and I have a great story to tell. First, my momcame to see me at T&C. I knew she fell in love with me before she eventouched me. I over heard her telling the staff that she was going tosend some other people in to see me. My mom ended up taking an"emergency" day off and came back to see me with my dad, 2sisters(human) and my brother Beavis(canine). My dad was trying to actall cool but I knew after the first kiss I gave him that I had him too.Now I have a great home and am spoiled rotten. My mom and dad have thiscabin on the river that I get to go to on the weekends. I ride in theboat, swim in the river, chase frogs and run myself ragged chasingBeavis around. I love to kiss my daddy. I kiss him all over his faceuntil it is good and clean and he has to tell me to stop. My brother,Beavis, is my best friend. Sometimes I am a little pushy towards him andI get in a little trouble. I was so excited and Thankful to have a homeand a family so I decided to do something pretty cool to show them howmuch I loved them. So one day my mom walked into the living room and Iwas so proud......I had eaten her couch pillows and had the stuffing asa present all over the room. I was so proud. Then my mom told me I wasnaughty so I ran to my sisters, Brea and Kenzie, of course they told menot to worry!!! My family spoils me rotten and I love it. My mom and dadhad "been looking" for awhile. Then because of a dog named Zach fromT&C, and his dad telling his story, my mom found her way to me......

Mia - Shepherd/Coonhound Mix - Spayed Female

When our coonhound mix we had for nine years had to be put to sleep in May, I knew when the time was right, we would get another coon-hound type dog. In August, I volunteered to walk a rescue dog from Town & Country in the Millard Days Parade. When they sent me a picture of the dog I would be walking, I fell in love with her. She was a shepherd/coonhound mix name Mia. We went and visited her that evening and decided we wanted her (needless to say, T&C had me a walk a different rescue dog in the parade). We adopted "Dori" on August 28, 2007 and absolutely love her. She is a very sweet girl, loves everyone, and makes us laugh. She has a brother who she just adores and they play and play and play. I have always adopted dogs from shelters. People say how lucky the dog is that it was adopted; I say, "we're the lucky ones!"
